You will need to have at least 50% of the points needed from your deposit to purchase more points. When you go to do the exchange, a page will come up that says you need x amount of more points to exchange for this week. You have the option to deposit another timeshare week or purchase points at $1 per point to equal the exchange points needed. The actual purchasing of the points is in the check out process.
On the other hand if you have more points then the week requires you get to keep the points to use toward another exchange.
