Hi, I am considering buying one or two Hyatt weeks. There are a number of silver or gold weeks available for low prices. If I buy two of these weeks, can I combine the weeks to get a higher demand unit and possibly a bigger higher demand unit?

Thanks, Hugh

The short answer is yes. Hyatt offers a flexible system that allows you to use your fixed week or "bank" it internally for Hyatt points. A gold week will get you 2000 points and a silver week will get you 1800 points. Together you have 3800 points to use internally. A diamond week (2 bdrm in highest demand season) will require 2200 points so you can use some of your 3800 points and still have points left over. You can use 1300 of the remaining points to exchange for an II 2 bdrm timeshare. The Hyatt system also allow you to go for three or four days at a Hyatt resort using the Hyatt points. This is, in my opinion, the best system out there except for the fact that one does not have as many Hyatt options as Marriott, for example, offers.

Thanks - very good information. Your last sentence suggests that Marriott may be better. Is it better or just different and more? Any comparison would be helpful to me. Thanks again

When you think that having a large number of resorts with many phases it seems to be an assett however when you look at tradeability, Interval International, he who has small supply of a high demand area wins because there are less Hyatt weeks for Interval to get so they are eager to fill the request. Hyatt was smart when they built because they built in high demand destinations where very hard to duplicate properties, ie top of a mountain with a view, ski in ski out etc. and they build a small supply so a great example of this is Marriott's Shadow Ridge in Palm Springs their third phase has more owners in just the 3rd phase then the entire Hyatt Vacation Club. What that means to the trader is Interval sees those weeks as a dime a dozen because if they don't make your trade there are hundreds of thousands of weeks just like theres and Interval will get plenty of them.
