When these companies ask for money "up front" to advertise and (hopefully) sell a timeshare, they say when asked that in Florida is is illegal for non-real estate agents to collect a portion of the sale price and therefore they have to recover their costs up front with a flat fee. Can any of you who live in Florida confirm or deny this claim? Is there such a regulation? Perhaps either a lawyer or a real estate agent there could answer this question.

And this is how they get away with their scams ... they're not licensed real estate agents. If they were, they couldn't take the upfront fee, which they call an advertising/marketing fee when all they do is place an ad in a database with millions of others who also got scammed. They don't do any real advertising.

I honestly can't understand why all the upfront fee scammers haven't been forced out of business. It's not just the scam upfront fee, it's ALL THE LIES THEY TELL PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS ..... the entire scam needs to be exposed to the world.
