Re: What keeps you from using Redweek Exchange? (by Marie J.):
Not only do we utilize the Exchange feature of Redweek (as well as their other timeshare services - purchase and rental), but we also tout it to acquaintances, and of course to sales staff while at a timeshare presentation.
In our opinion, this program has the potential to be the best in the industry. It provides the necessary abstraction from private 1-for-1 exchanges (such as Timex), and yet avoids the unfair dealings (hidden/restricted inventory, deceptive valuation practices, and stressful dealings with Customer dis-Service) associated with Interval International.
We normally deposit two Orlando prime weeks (Week 51/52, and July/August) as soon as our resort allows us to reserve the weeks, which is normally during December of the prior year of use. We've been somewhat inquisitive as to how long they last as available for exchange, and they are typically booked within a couple of weeks from posting.
However, this year has given us some pause for concern on two fronts: 1) Redweek's valuation estimation for one of our weeks returned much lower than expected 2) Redweek's rapidly diminishing inventory of interesting places to visit during peak periods.
We're seeking redress privately with Redweek in re to their meager point valuation, and can only hope that the tentative Redweek community will realize their comfort level and share their resort weeks.
