Sheraton Vistana Cascades (by R P.):

I've noticed that Sheraton Vistana has a bunch of units available for very reasonable resale values. Why is that? Is Vistana not a good deal, even at low buy in cost, for trade value? Yes, we'd like to visit Orlando for the area attractions, but would likely attempt to trade some or most years to places like Colorado for skiing or elsewhere. Thoughts?
In this economy timesharing is in it's lowest time ever .... many people are willing to just give their timeshares away to get rid of the obligation of yearly maintenance fees or until the week changes ownership which in these bad economic times, many weeks can't even be given away as is evidenced on Ebay.
Maintenance fees can be an albatross around one's neck in times of recession with people losing jobs, layoffs, lessened work hours, loss of homes etc. That's one thing you have to remember when purchasing a timeshare, even for $1, you are still responsible for maintenance fees forever.
Also, you have to remember that your kids will outgrow Disney one day but you'll still be stuck with your week and your maintenance fees and you cannot depend on exchanging to Colorado in ski season unless you have a very strong trader .... I wouldn't think Vistana is a strong trader since it's in way overbuilt timeshare resorts in Orlando.
