Bluegreen Communities --- Proceed with caution... (by Steve W.):

I am a former b/g sales rep. they DO own properties outright. Harbor Lights in Myrtle Beach, Boyne Mountain in Michigan, Wilderness Club at Big Cedar in Missouri to name a few. Like several t/s companies they also own "weeks" of inventory they pick up from developers closing out inventory. That's what makes the "point system" click. The t/s company can bundle up deeded blue weeks or less than high demand resorts redtime weeks and sell them because they "total up" to a certain point value that can be used for high demand/profile destinations. Bluegreen Corp. has a real estate development branch (Bluegreen Communities) again like other corps. (wyndham for instance) where you can purchase a year round home/homesite and be on the golf course lake or mountains, locations in Texas, Tenn. Fl. and other locations. Pinnacle Vacations is Bluegreen's resale branch where owners are encouraged to use them to list their unwanted properties. Since leaving the company I haven't kept up with their current growth but I do know that when the crunch hit they got hurt big time somehow they are /were related to Lehman Brothers...I think they were the driving force ($) behind the residential communities and when they went down they took a lot of Bluegreen financial $$$ with them.
