Re: Timeshare Advocacy International (by Edwina J.):
I too was contacted by Timeshare Advocacy International and when then they told me it was a one-time payment of $29.95 with a money back guarantee I gave them my debit card number and waited for the nightmare to end. I got a call back that the payment had declined. I had misunderstood and what they meant was $2995. Luckily, I did not have this in my account. The person on the phone was very persistent in explaining why I needed to get the money and I should go as far as to take out a personal loan, he even "talked to the president" and got the initial payment dropped to $1000. I called my bank and explained and upon hearing this they wouldn't even consider giving me a loan. They cancelled my debit card immediately and sent me a new one telling me that this was a SCAM! I found only one company that seems legit through research, they do not take money upfront and warn you of companies that do. Unfortunately they only take cases for timeshares purchased in Mexico. If anybody has a timeshare there I would contact Gonzalez/Gonzalez time share soloutions. I called and even the receptionist warned me about the scams and not to pay anybody up front. She had nobody to refer me to but wished me luck, I'm going to need it I think.
