One thing to be careful about the RCI Points resorts. Just because the resort participates in RCI Points doesn't mean the unit you buy participates. Make certain when buying the seller confirms the specific unit is already participating. It's not as common now as it was 4 years ago, but I had a seller tell me to contact the resort to do due diligence when I asked if the unit was participating in RCI Points. The resort confirmed they were an RCI Point participating resort ... but when I became the owner I was only a weeks owner. I hope when you read this you can see that on the surface the statements all appeared to be proper and correct but upon critical inspection the seller did not say yes or no about the participation and the resort did not confirm the specific unit was participating.

Also, even if the unit is participating in RCI Points, if the seller doesn't fill out the RCI Points transfer form, you'll end up with a weeks unit. This form is submitted to RCI after you are recognized by the resort as the owner, but you should status the closing company or owner to ensure this is completed.
