We actually had a great oceanview rooms both times that we used our timeshare. The key is booking your reservation 12 months in advance. We also booked at he end of August which isn't as popular as the early summer months.
Beware of booking too late. You are not guaranteed of an oceanview room even if that's part of your timeshare contract (and why did I pay that extra money?). And the clencher is that you will not be able to verify if any oceanview rooms are available until you arrive at the hotel.
I just found out that the fee to convert your Star Options to Star Points (to be used for hotels) has been increased. The last time I converted Star Options the fee was $99. Now the fee is $130, a 31% increase! First astronomical increases in maintenance fees and now this! Will the drastic price increases never end!
