Re: point rental liquidators (by Tina K.):

BEWARE! I highly suspect that the people posting here that say PRL works good actually work for PRL and are part of the scam. My parents just got scammed into signing a contract with Sunset Harbor Resorts in Willis, TX by PRL. PRL reps told my elderly parents all kinds of lies and then put high pressure on them to make a spur of the moment decision and sign the contract. They had implied they were affiliated with RCI, so my parents trusted them. PRL told my parents that Sunset Harbor's condo was comparable with their current timeshare. LIES! Sunset Harbor has a 2.1 out of 5 customer satisfaction rating, compared to a 4.8/5 rating at my parents' current condo. It only costs 4 Trading Power to rent at Sunset Harbor, but it costs 27 Trading Power to rent at my parents' current condo. That's NOT COMPARABLE! My parents had to hire a lawyer because SHR refused to cancel the contract when requested. The 2 phone numbers given to my parents from the 2 salesmen from PRL don't even work. One says it's not a working number and the other one says mailbox is full. PRL and SHR both have an F rating with BBB. You can go online and check it out. I've been reading up on them and this is a very common scam. The agencies say they're hard to catch because they come into a state, quickly scamming a bunch of people, then pack up and leave that state and go set up office in another state. We've reported them to the La. Attorney General's office, the US Crime Complaint Center, RCI, Bank of America, and the BBB. We're waiting to see what happens next. Bank of America wouldn't call the charges "fraudulent" and remove them because my parents did sign the papers. BofA has entered it into the Billing Disputes Dept and have frozen the payments and interest for 90 days. They may or may not be able to settle this, but I was very surprised that they wouldn't just reverse the charges. I've had that done 2 times on my Chase credit card when charges were put on my account, but not by me. Anyway, Sunset Harbor sounds like a real dump. You can read the reviews at RCI.com. The contract is very vague also. These 2 guys from PRL opened 2 new credit card accounts in my parents' names and charged $9500 on them. My parents didn't even know this until a week later when they got the plastic cards in the mail and called BofA and found out the balance. By then, it was past the time you are allowed to cancel the contract (5 days). My parents said these guys are VERY PROFESSIONAL, slick, smooth-talking guys. They had my parents totally believing everything they said.
