We are putting together a Beach Vacation package as the Grand Prize for a fundraiser for my childrens' school, and it occurred to me that sometimes it could work out better for a person to donate their timeshare for the year, to a non profit, and get the tax write-off. You probably could only rent it for partial value, but you could take the donation value for full market value.
Anyway, just wondering if this has ever been done, and if so, if anyone is interested in doing it. We would be looking for a week in 2013....somewhere near a beach or major tourist area, and we would happily provide a donation receipt and tax documents showing it was donated to a non-profit.
