Timeshares are being given away everyday. A lot of people that bought them years ago want to get rid of them and rid themselves of the monthly maintenance fees and assessments. Peoples lives change and they no longer want the obligation to travel. The real estate market and economy has dropped to the point where most timeshares have no resale value. Before you consider buying one make sure you realize that it's a contract to pay fees every year whether you can use it or not. As resorts age they need major repairs and that could result in special assessment fees besides the annual maintenace fees. If you do decide to buy shop around and a motivated seller may give it to you for one dollar and agree to pay all closing costs as an incentive.
