Hello Judy; no lawyers are participating in these forums because they don't want to be held liable for their opinions. Anything they say in a public forum like this could be used AGAINST them in court. To get clear legal advice, you have to talk to a lawyer. However, from what I understand, this case is a class action on behalf of all residents of New York (why? because this is the core customer base of the MHC)). This case is important to non-NY residents because, whatever the outcome, it will set a precedent for future cases. For example, if the case is resolved through a settlement, then non-NY residents will go to court to achieve the same settlement that was offered to NY residents. That's the logic.
