I emailed the Times reporter (gretchen@nytimes.com) and she called me yesterday for the interview. She is looking for someone who has walked away from their timeshare and given it back to DRI, so if you know of someone please let her know.
As for the question about having a completely different experience than we purchased (those who bought Embassy Suites with limited other properties because we really just wanted to go to Maui and trade through Interval, now having to battle for a suite at Maui because of the "Hawaii Collection" having home priority) she may be reaching out to the State of Hawai'i to see if deeded owners have rights that aren't being honored. This includes being required to pay "Club Dues" to access benefits many of us don't even want to use or that cut out halfway through the year.
