Totally agree with William. Anyone who understands timeshares will understand that planning is essential, particularly if you want to book the highly popular times around the holidays when competition for units is fierce. This is true for any timeshare. Has it ever been established with certainty that units were ever illegally oversold at TMC so that that competition was unfairly exacerbated? I have never been denied my choice of week when I have booked exactly 9 months in advance. Regarding rental of the units, when I bought in 2006, I was told that a plan was being examined to allow owners to rent any unused time and apply it to maintenance fees but it was not a promise or guarantee. With an increasing number of owners having unrealistic expectations from the timeshare arrangement and selfishly not paying their fair share in maintenance fees, a death spiral began to take hold. I think renting those units to defray some of the bad debt would have been a necessary step or this death spiral would have been be much steeper.
