Are you sure it wasn't a Wyndham hotel at which you rented a room? There are lots of Wyndham hotels that have nothing to do with Wyndham's timeshare properties. Even it is a Wyndham timeshare property, the "house" can always rent out developer-owned units or weeks anytime they wish.

In any case, what are you concerned about if you rented temporary occupancy of a unit for a price that you were willing to pay? What exactly is it that you are "very worried" about? I guess I don't see or understand any basis for your concern. That being said, stay far away from any "sales presentations" if that particular subject is ever brought up at any time during your stay.
