Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Has anyone dealt with Interval Realty in Orlando?

Mar 15, 2007

I own a 3 br at Star Island. Interval Realty Phone reps keep calling saying they rent out weeks to conventions goers in Orlando for $3300 for a 3 bedroom, $2200 for 2 brs. They want a $400 listing fee. They don't guarantee a rental but they actively solicit major corporations and say they get results. They have a web site with lots of listings but I don't believe they get these prices as, from my experience time shares seem to rent for not much more than yearly maintenance fees. Has anyone rented their timeshare through them or are they another scam outfit out to get your $400.

Ask them to take their fee out of the rental AFTER it's rented, not before, and see how fast they hang up on you. This is just another upfront fee rental/resale company.

You can do the exact same thing yourself by listing your rental on Redweek, or other listing sites on the internet, and save yourself $400 minus the nominal listing fee.

I have read advice that says do NOT pay any company a listing fee.....they take your $$ and then you never hear from them. Try to rent it yourself on RedWeek or Ebay......keep your $400!

From my experience, this is another scam. All they do is list your timeshare on an internet site and you will never hear from them after they take your money.

They just called me today...I was thinking about listing my unit at star island, but had also heard not to pay up front fees! Star Island will rent your week for you. Have you tried that? I was wondering how well that works...Any feedback?

As others have said tell them they can gladly rent out your unit and take a commission of the $400.00 after it has been paid for and rented. I would bet you never get a call back!

For as much as us owners warn people of these companies on these sites its strange how new companies keep popping up.

Seems like Flordia has the most and wonder if its because of all the over building of resorts or just so many retired people there and they feel older targets are easier touch!

I have been ther done that and I can tell you my self that your timeshare is listed on a web site in a mass of others and no one will EVER call you or return your call when you ask for a refund. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE! check out rip off report . com and search the company's name also go to the BBB web site for Orlando you can google it. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED>

I paid them the listing fee and that was the end of it. They never rented out my timeshare and now the number on my contract is disconnected.

This is their (upfront fee advertisers) modus operandi .... they shut down and then start up with a different company name.
