Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Same resort, very different asking prices?

Mar 16, 2007

I am looking to sell my timeshare, and have been checking out what others are asking, and I am amazed at how vast the asking prices are.

Do sellers just pick a number and go with it? Some at my resort are 7900 - 17000 $$. Same type of units and everything.

Does anyone have any isight on this?

People have different ideas as to the worth of their unit. Some may be interested in selling if they get their price. I would decide the price you think is fair and are willing to pay, then make an offer to several units and see what comes of it.

Also, some weeks were more than likely bought from the developer and some were more than likely bought resale and that's the reason for the diffference between prices.

The developer bought weeks will never get the return on a resale that was paid ... usually it's 1/3 to 1/4 of developer cost on a resale.
