Online timeshare escrow option for rentals

Mar 19, 2007

The RedWeek.com "Pricing and Details" page (for posting a rental) lists the following option that you will get after posting a listing--"Access to an easy online timeshare escrow option for completing rentals and resales". My problem is that I need to know the feasibility and cost of this option BEFORE listing my rental, so I can include the cost in my rental price. Has anyone used this online timeshare escrow option before? Is it a good idea to use it? How much does it cost? Any other advice regarding rentals, other than the previous postings regarding contracts, etc.? Is there any way to list multiple weeks at a single resort, without using multiple listings? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

The Vacation Rental Escrow Service is optional but highly recommended in finalizing the transaction. More information can be found at http://www.redweek.com/help/rental_process/escrow/

If you have consecutive weeks for rent at the same resort you can list them as one posting but if they are split up it would be better to list them separately.

Thanks, Marty

-------- As I see it, the escrow service protects the person renting the unit more than the owner of the unit. As the owner, I can confirm the legality of checks or ask for payment via PayPal. So, I can understand why a someone renting would want to pay for the use of an escrow service. Why as an owner should I pay for the use of an escrow service?

The escrow company handles the money and the paper work such as the rental agreement. If the renter is nervous at all about the transaction they will definitely feel better about using the escrow company which in turn benefits the owner in renting their timeshare.
