I would like to donate my timeshare to a charity. At some point I saw a list of chairties that would take timeshares. Can anyone direct me?

thanks

There is a discussion about timeshare donations on our forums under General Discussion http://www.redweek.com/forums/threads?forum_id=7 subject "Getting rid of a time share".

Here's more information in the Help area that might be on interest to you http://www.redweek.com/articles/donating-timeshare-to-charity

Thanks, Marty

Re; >> www.donateforacause.org <<

This entity (or more specifically, Resort Closings, Inc., the broker which represents them) seems to be strangely selective about what they will accept for donation. In two separate instances within the past month, involving two entirely different resorts, Resort Closings rejected deeded timeshare weeks which I offered to donate (both owned outright, all fees paid up). I then easily sold BOTH of those two weeks on my own for well over $1,000 each, both within 2 weeks of their "rejection" for donation. NEITHER ONE of these two resorts were (or are presently) indicated on their "will not accept" list, I should also point out here.

In short, I have no idea how they decide which donations to accept, but from my own personal experience I'm left with the conclusion that they are either unable or unwilling (maybe both) to bother to adequately research the marketability of an offered timeshare donation. I'm glad to have the cash, but I remain puzzled by their "acceptance / rejection" thinking (....if any).
