If we purchased, would this timeshare link to my existing Hilton Timeshare? In other words, would I be able to combine my points in one account?

Yes. Your experience on the HGV website will be the same, with increased points, but you'll technically have two contracts and two maintenance fees. (Not sure about club dues).
