how to set up a RCI week

Sep 21, 2007

I have an RCI week that i want to rent out. I don't know how to set it up in the redweek system. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

If you recieved this week from an exchange, or rented it from RCI like extra vacations, you can't rent it out according to the contract you have with RCI.

Since RCI owns no T/S resorts, but is simply an exchange ( and rental at times) company....I assume your week is from a resort that trades with RCI?

If you have not given your resort T/S week to RCI for exchange ( barring no HOA rules against renting)....you can simply take this week you own and put it up for rent via this website. (Or seberal others).

If you have a week you obtained from an exchange from RCI, you can buy a guest cerificate from RCI, and let a guest family stay there. But RCI will allow them to pay for the guest certificate....and something else, I forgot....but you can't rent the week to them. ( ie....no money for a rental charge is allowed)

I have a Wydham timeshare and my points were going to expire so i banked them into RCI for a blue week. I am new at this and don't really understand by what you are saying if i can sell this one or not.

Kekouri is telling you, quite correctly, that you cannot rent out (for profit) a week which you have obtained through RCI via an "exchange". Depositing your week (or apparently Wyndham points, in your case) with RCI, and then booking something else with that deposit is an "exchange". Any "exchange" week which you have reserved in this particular manner simply cannot then be rented out. You can (if you are complying with RCI rules) only get a guest certificate for someone else at this point, if you don't intend to use the week yourself. You can only charge that person receiving the guest certificate UP TO (i.e., no more money than) the total cost of obtaining that "guest certificate". If you attempt to rent out an exchange, and the resort and/or RCI becomes aware of it, you risk having your RCI membership suspended or revoked --- and you also risk having your would-be "renters" turned away from the resort and refused occupancy.

The only two costs allowed to be reimbursed you if you let a family or friend use your exchange is the GUEST CERTIFICATE FEE and the EXCHANGE FEE (a little over $200). Anything over this amount would be considered profit and is not allowed.

In addressing the "guest certificate" fee in my reply to this inquiry, I neglected to also address that the initial exchange fee is indeed also eligible for (maximum) "dollar for dollar" reimbursement. Thank you for clarifying RCI policy in addressing my oversight.

It´s worth pointing out, in particular, that you cannot charge a rental that includes the cost of the annual maintenance fee that you will have paid for your points - only the exchange and guest certificate fees.

If i have "points" with Rci to use in Florida. And i would like to rent out that week, when the time comes and i have to interested party. What do i do with the resort to change the checkin person name? What is a suitable deposit for damages? And are there any fee with Summersbay resort in Florida for this guest change?

================ Is the week that you have reserved with your RCI points your home week at your home resort or is it a different week that you reserved through RCI. If it is that latter ( i.e. NOT your home week), then you cannot rent it out as it would be the same as recnit an exchange).

If it is your home week, after you get either a deposit or full payment, contact your resort for their policy. One of my resorts just required a letter from me stating the name of the person who will be staying in my unit. Another TS sent the renter their own confirmation. As for a security deposit, most resorts will take a credit card for this purpose, but in the end you are responsible for any damages.
