Steve ,I sold our timeshare years ago like this and had friends do this few years ago.

I have explained this idea on a few post on Redweek and other sites.

You don't need special site, you could list on wish list here or on any site.

You can find owners of resort and weeks you want and contact all of them stating what you would like to do .

I would think you have the resort or area in mind so just send e-mail to people with rent ads asking if they would have any interest in working this deal.

I would bet you will even get interest from some not even thinking of selling.

Tell owners your interested in their resort and would like to rent with option to buy their unit within couple weeks of your stay and your terms like all or half your rental fee off the selling price. Also make sure you have price in writing on your rental contract.

Check out sale listings at the resorts you are thinking of renting/buying so the owner doesn up the price on you.

This is a no lose deal for some owner renting because they rent and if they want to sell at same time they have the buyer. Worse thing to happen is they rent to you without you buying. They still make money.

Steve, I would say to look at resale ads on sites and send e-mails. When you can find the listings with the real e-mail address then group them together and state on the mail what your doing.

It easier to find seller and ask for this deal because like I stated it is a no lose for the owner.

Plus many of these owners have tried for years to sell and would jump at this offer.

If you are honest and tell these owners what your doing and show them all the e-mails that your sending this request to and want to maybe buy the unit within two weeks of after vacation some will rush back and you might even get a better price.

I would rather deal with five owners than just one on this and by being upfront on your e-mail they will understand there are five other owners at your resort getting your offer.

If your talking about a top resort then maybe rent with half the rental going on your buying.

When we sold our three bedroom at Los Tules in PV,MEX years ago I told the people to go enjoy the unit and resort and go on the tour and get free dinner on them and see what they have.

The fourth day there and going on the tour and hearing the price they rushed back to me to buy.

I rented the unit to them for $1200 and deal was to sell for $4500 so they had their great vacation and paid another $3300 to me plus the fee's they paid to do transfer and they made out.

If they had bought my unit from the resort they would have paid $9500 plus closing fee's and lost their $1200 for renting my place. This worked out for both of us! My friends did this same thing couple years ago and sold their unit the first year.

GOOD LUCK, PHIL
