Does anyone know how starwood resales work in relation to using staroptions to travel to other resorts in their system for example owning in Broadway plantation in gold season, and wanting to go into a smaller unit in Vistana villages in the platinum season. My concern is that if I buy a week at the resale level, I will not be able to travel within their Starwood Vacation Network,(SVN). If anyone can clarify this, I would appreciate it--thanks

As long as you buy at what they call a Mandatory Resort, meaning that the StarOptions will transfer upon resale, you will be able to go to any Starwood resort. Their point chart is very easy to follow and will show you how many points are needed for which size unit during each travel season. Google Staroptions point chart for tons of info.

The resorts to purchase from if you want StarOptions are: Resorts that are “SVN mandatory” SVN membership mandatory for both new and resale buyers:

Harborside Resort Vistana Villages Westin St. John Westin Ka'anapali Westin Kierland Villas
