Time share availability to members vs web offers to non-members

I am new at this, but we have been trying to get our first/new week at Pueblo Bonito , Emerald Bay Mazatlan in late March 2008. We were told there was no available rooms for us , and we had to wait until April 29th, 2008 to rent our week this year. Imagine my surprise when I see on Orbiz .com, a week at Pueblo Bonito. So I entered my desired week and imagine..there are 2 rooms during the same week we wanted in March !!...what gives...did we get scammed on our requested week, or is this the way RCI timeshares work ?

Evidently you own a floating week. If you waited until February 2008 to book a March 2008 week, then you waited far too late. With floating weeks, you must make your reservations many months in advance, sometimes 12 months in advance for popular destinations/resorts.

March is spring break month for most schools and colleges in the USA and is a highly demanded month.

I don't know why there were March weeks available on Orbitz, but they could be developer weeks or weeks given to Orbitz by the resort many months ago.

In the future, if you want a week in March you will have to reserve it many months in advance.

...did we get scammed on our requested week, or is this the way RCI timeshares work ? ------------------------------------------------------- A couple of questions for you: Is PB Emerald Bay your home resort? If so, did you call the Reservations number at PB Emerald Bay or did you call the RCI number to try reserve your time?
