Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

LOOKS LIKE REDWEEK FORUM MEMBERS HELPED TO SHUT DOWN A TIMESHARE SCAM COMPANY

Apr 09, 2008

I don't like to double post in forums, but I thought this thread should be in more than one forum on Redweek:

It seems Redweek's forum members have caused a timeshare scam company to shut their doors (IBD Marketing). This is what activism will do if people keep at it hard enough and this is one of the MAIN reasons that I remain an active member of this forum .... to discuss such scam companies as IBD Marketing, ALL upfront fee resale scam companies and any other scams related to timesharing.

WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

I was a victim to IBD Marketing. Is there anything I can do to get my money back, or just chalk it up to experience?

Seems they are still at it. They called us a couple of weeks ago saying they had a buyer for our timeshare, but we would need to send a cashier's check to cover title search costs. I objected, saying that closing costs go to the buyer. When I pressed him on the issue, he hung up on me. Looks like they have found a way to double dip on a scam.

Report them to the Attorney General in the state where the company is located ....

I just got a phone call from a company doing the exact same thing. I was aware of the con so I just played along to see where they were going. They put me on hold 3 times and said I was being transferred to the next big shot. All three times it was the same dumb chick. She said she didn't take up-front fees for advertising but needed $882.00 for title search and closing!! She didn't stay on the line long enough when I told her I wasn't going to pay that so I don't know where the ABC Marketing company was calling from.

They get put down and come back with a new name.

I've had great success renting and selling my timeshares on Redweek.
