Getting money back from resale agencies

Jul 24, 2008

Hey guys,

I signed up with a resale agency called exclusive sales out of florida... they claimed that they could sell my property as soon as 2 months. Off course nothing happened... I tried to get my money back with no results...

Then somewhere in forums I found a company called RefundPlus.com. They fight for your refund and then you pay them a percentage. I signed up with them a couple of months ago and I got my refund yesterday:):)

I had $1200 returned to me... and I paid them a commission of $192... which is not bad at all.

Hope this helps! Thank you

Did you have to pay the $192 upfront or after the refund?

No i paid that after i got my refund. But to initiate the case I paid 69 .99 i think it was.. which is also refundable when after they get their commission.

but they do the job... i just got a mail from them as well which said that besides the refund they forward it a complaint written out by their lawyer to appropriate government agency which after getting numerous complaints will investigate and hopefully shut them down!

After checking out refundplus.com, it states on their webpage that their commission is taken after you get your refund. If this is the case, then this website is too good to be true, however I can't believe I haven't heard about this company in the 4 years they've been in business .... I would think they would have been heavily discussed on all timeshare forums on the internet, but I have yet to read one thing about them except for the OP's post.

If they ask for an UPFRONT FEE, for ANY reason, don't do it.

Has anyone else had experience with this company?

it's like saying when you go to a store... if they ask an upfront fee for the weight loss product... don't do it!!! .:)...

There is not yet a legitimate upfront fee company to be found in all the years I've been reading timeshare forums .... almost 10 years now. I honestly don't see how the owners of such companies and their employees can sleep at night. That's why I question the $69.99 fee that the company you mention charges upfront.

Perhaps you can bring forth other satisfied customers with honest testimonials regarding that particular company. But, like I said, in the 4 years they've been in business, I have never, ever heard of them ....... that makes me very suspicious. If they do all you say they do, the company name would be discussed bigtime on all the different timeshare forums on the internet.

Also, they say on their webpage that they do not charge an upfront fee, that they are paid after the money is refunded, however you state that you had to pay them $69.99 to begin the process .... this is out and out false advertising.

Also, it looks like this company is brand new, it's not 4 years old .... below is from their website at the bottom of the page:

There seems to be new scams to pop up everyday on the internet concerning timeshares and I have a gut feeling that refundplus is no different, especially since they start out by saying they've been in business 4 years and the copyright is plainly dated 2008.

yea well honestly i dont know if they've been in business for that long... i just know that they got my money back... that's frankly all i care about... and wanted to share my experience with others... didn't really care about whether the website says 4 years in business or 2008 copyright and turned out ok for me...

you do whatever works for u...

but thanks for digging that information up from their website... it shows that you care about others like i do.. but if i posted here a question about that company before signing up ... your replies would've probably stopped me from getting my money back :)...

The company may be legitimate .... only time will tell.

And yes, I care about the consumer as there are so many scams involved in the timeshare industry, as is evidenced in these forums, that when any upfront fee is required then I become very leary.

I feel so bad that thousands upon thousands of people have been taken in by upfront fee scams. As I said above, time and testimonials will tell if this company is legitimate.

I saw on their webpage where they take a percentage of the refund based on the amount of the refund, but how can they be certain that the person getting the refund will pay them (I believe it's within 30 days)?

It all sounds just a little fuzzy to me, although the webpage is very slick and well put together.

JayJay......I may be way off base on this but I certainly wouldn't put it past one of the owners of an advance fee timeshare resale agency being responsible for this website. Now I'm not saying this isn't a legitimate company but what better way for a resale company to take advantage or a vast market--advance fee scam victims--that they helped create. They certainly would have a file of people that have already been scammed by them that they could call and try and scam in a whole new way. First preying upon timeshare owners eager to sell and then preying on them again as they are desperate to get their money back for the worthless advance fee advertising they purchased.

Just a thought.

Something else I noticed...they're located very close to several advance fee companies in Orlando. I'm guessing they just have to walk over to an office and request the advance fee company refund money for their clients. Or, on the other end......these advance fee scam owners aren't boy scouts so the refund company in question better hope they have good security.

I was researching this company and found this thread. I'm no longer interested in doing it. On further search I did find something else that sparked my interest.

There is a lot of information regarding how to get your money back on www.resaleripoffs.com.

Before I get reamed like the original poster to this thread: No I do not own it. No I do not work for them. No I didn't pay them. No they didn't pay me. The site appears to be ad supported and I didn't see anything on the site where they ask for money upfront. Actually I didn't see anything about asking for money ever.

also I did notice a BBB torch on www.refundplus.com but could not find anything on them at www.bbb.org. Not under company name nor as a URL so it does look fishy being they have been around for "4" years but no one has ever heard of them and you can't find anything on them.

Thanks for the information. I have also have paid $625 and $350 and with 2 listing companies with no results. Were there any specific conditions in your time share agreement that enabled you to get your money back?
