I am trying to sell my time share at the Manhatten Club (MC) and have found out that the MC has a right of first refusal. They told me that I must present any offer to them first and they can match it if they choose. This seems like a cumbersome project. I would appreciate any insights or advice that you can offer.

Marriott also uses ROFR so it's not that unusual. In my opinion, it's a win/win situation.

I also understand that they have the right of first refusal. I want to market my M C week but am not sure as to where I would get the best response. The resale companies are calling and wanting their money upfront.

First... DO NOT PAY AN UPFRONT FEE TO A RESALE COMPANY Now, that being said, there are several places where you can market your TS. Here are Redweek, at TUG (tug2.net), myresortnetwork.com, vacationtimesharerentals.com, bidshares, eBay, and even craigslist. Some of these sites are free and some require a nominal fee. Some of these sites also have "TS wanted" ads.

MC is usually in high demand, so if you price your unit right, then you should be able to sell. Though with ROFR, the person who makes the offer, might not get the unit. That is the big negative about ROFR.

I'm sure the upfront fee parasites are hounding annmarie constantly to get a highly sought after Manhattan Club week. Once again, whatever you do, do not list it with an UPFRONT FEE COMPANY.

As Mike stated above, if you price your MC week right then you should have no problem selling it yourself on the sites Mike listed above. Do some research to see what people are asking for their MC weeks and go from there. However, just because someone lists a price that doesn't mean they'll get it. In this market you really should be competitive if you want to sell fast.

NYC is one location where there's a limited supply of timeshares but the demand is great .... it's all about supply and demand.

BTW, Marriott isn't exercising ROFR at many of their resorts in this bad economy.
