Are you planning on using the timeshare only for trading or are you planning on staying at your home resort and periodically trade for other destinations?

With Points trading power is irrelevant. A point is a point. If you are buying into a points resort soley to exchange into other resorts, then base your decision on the cost per point relative to the annual MF.

If you plan on using your home resort most of the time, then find the best value in that location. Marriotts have good trade value, but does not use points. Wyndham (fairfield) is points and has many resorts, but they use a hybrid system of points when exchanging with RCI. Disney is a good system (also points), but it is an expensive purchase if it will used to exchange outside the DVC system. RCI has a Points system as well which of course has the most resorts. As with any system, you must learn the subtle nuances.

The TUG forum (www.tugbbs.com) has threads for various resort. You can get additional information there as well.
