I recently visited Aruba and my husband and I bought a time share week at the divi phonex. I haven't heard anything from them since we were there on April 10th.. Do you think I should be getting something in the mail from them or getting a call or anything? Just seems weird they charged the down payment on our Credit card then we have nothing but the signed agreement.... I my just be paranoid but want to make sure everything in legitament... Please give me some advise on what to expect... thanks Kellie

Kellie:

Well, I do agree with you that you should have received something more from them than just the paperwork. Did they at least give you a Directory of Resorts?

Any good resort should have contacted you at least twice by now to make sure you understook everything, were OK with the purchase and if nothing else, to make sure you arrived home OK.

If you have all of your signed paperwork, that is at least a step in the right direction. I would however e-mail them immediately and ask when you will be receiving your exchange membership and any other documents or directories you may need/want.

This is, unfortunately, yet another example of what needs to be improved in the "old" timeshare system...customer service needs to be stepped up several notches.

Before you purchase another timeshare Kellie, I would suggest you look at the price of similar timeshares on RedWeek.com. After all, there is no such thing as a "new" or "used" timeshare.

Happy and safe travels...do let me know what their response was to your e-mail inquiry.
