Is an attorney required to sell a timeshare in NC ? I would rather sell through RED WEEK and use their recommended escrow service

I sold 2 NC timeshares and didn't have to go through an attorney, however when I sold my SC timeshare an attorney was required.

An "escrow service" is NOT actually a closing company, but using a good closing company will INCLUDE escrow services. Escrow is nothing more than a third party holding the funds between buyer and seller, whereas a full closing company service includes escrow and much more (estoppel from resort, preparation and recording of a new deed, resort notification, etc.). No matter WHERE you advertise and sell your timeshare, a closing company with FULL services should be utilized. "Escrow" is just a tiny part of the whole process.

Thank you so much for your response......it is very helpful. Could you tell me where I could find the necessary steps to sell......I just really don't know what I'm doing but I';d rather use red week than an agent. Sincere thanks

It's very easy to place an ad on Redweek .... just follow the instructions via 'Sell or Rent Your Timeshare'. Be aware that some timeshare weeks can't even be given away = supply and demand of the week and resort where you own.

You are most welcome. If you just click on the (dark green colored) link above labelled "Resources"at the top of this page, you can get directly to some material and recommendations regarding selling a timeshare. You can also find additional guidance on the subject of selling in "stickies" at http://www.tug2.net.

Be aware in advance, however, that this is unfortunately the worst time in history to be selling a timeshare. The economy is lousy and timeshares are "luxury" items. There are over 1,200 timeshares offered on eBay right now, today --- many of them being offered almost for free, many even including the seller paying all the closing costs as well. Unless your particular timeshare is a relatively high demand location and season, you may discover (...although I hope not) that it has no market value whatsoever at the current time. In any event, good luck.
