Need a license to resell timeshares? Closing agent?

Dec 05, 2010

Is it necessary to have a real estate license (or timeshare license) to resell a timeshare? Also, is it necessary for the closing agent to be licensed to do the closing on a timeshare resale?

No, anybody can resell a timeshare .... as far as closing, if you are familiar with the closing process I suppose you could close it yourself, but I always used timesharetransfer.com ..... I resold nine of our timeshares (via Redweek and other online timeshare listing sites) before the timeshare market crashed. Another legitimate closing service is JRA Services.

They handle escrow (holding all monies until transaction is complete and perform all the closing paperwork, including notifying the resort and the county where the timeshare is located.

Legitimate real estate licensed professionals cannot demand an upfront fee as upfront fee resale companies do.
