Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club: What's the difference between Island view and Garden view?

Feb 14, 2011

I've stayed at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club twice and loved it. I think we had an Island view because it faced outward, not toward the Garden. I'm interested in buying on the resell market, but want to make sure I don't get a parking lot view. Do I have these view categories right? Also, for an Ocean View, are those only the units on the very end, facing the beach? Or is Ocean View also considered to be the units that are on the Garden side, but face directly toward the Ocean (ie: the ones at the very back of the U shaped complex? Is there a diagram online somewhere that shows the categories for the Waiohai? We're owners at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club Lahaina Villas and couldn't be happier. But we thought having Kauai as well would give us a base for the great hiking in Kauai.

Also, any other thoughts on the Waiohai would be appreciated. Thanks.

We own a ocean view villa at Waiohai. Ocean view is considered any villa that you can see the ocean from. The garden view villas are usually the ones in the very back of the complex and/or along the exterior part of the buildings that back up to the parking lot or the scrub area next to the complex. There are only a few villas that have a truly "ocean" view, i.e. nothing obstructing the view. We have reservations at Waiohai July 3-9, but have been trying to trade it for Lahaina Villas but haven't had any luck. Is that particular week usually hard to come by?

Thanks for your response. Regarding Lahaina Villas, I expect that July 3-9 is really popular because of the long 4th of July weekend. Good luck!
