Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach resale question

Sep 28, 2011

I've stayed at PBSB as a guest of a friend who owns there for the past three summers and have loved it. I'm looking to buy a resale off here, but have a few questions that I'm sure someone can answer. 1) In buying a resale, does the new owner not retain any benefits of the original owner (i.e. free use of gym, tennis courts, etc.) 2) If I were to purchase a studio, but wanted to upgrade from time to time to a Master or Presidential Suite, can I and at what cost (the difference in the maintenance fee or something more)? 3) Can I rent additional weeks/units in a year and at what cost?

I'd appreciate any feedback as I'm very new to the timeshare world.

Hi

We are original owners and my sister bought after market. We go to the owners lunchs and are offered to upgrade from odd to annual owners and they cannot go from odd to annual or from studio to 1 or 2 BD. I do believe they use all of the facilities. I would rent any extra time on Redweek or buy something a little bigger to start with. We own a 2 BD and sometimes it is too much space and some times not. The one bedroom with two bathrooms is a great size Or buy two studios. Prices listed for resale right now are super cheap. Original owners seem to have a better choice of available inventory if it is peak time. But I always book a year in advance to get what I want.

To rent through the resort is offered at daily rate with usually a 25% discount. They don't let you upgrade as far as I know.
