Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Need tips for someone trying to rent unit for the first time

Jul 16, 2012

Does anyone have some tips to help successfully rent my timeshare unit? What is the process you use to rent? Do I make my reservation at my home resort first? Does everyone use the Escrow agreement to facilitate the transaction? Do you have any recommenations / strategies for setting pricing?

Thank you!!

We never rented any of our previously owned timeshares but we sold nine before the recession hit. What I did was post pictures of the actual unit for sale and any other details of the resort and unit.

What you have to remember is that pricing for rentals in this economy must be competitive with what others are renting for in the same timeframe and the same resort. Keep dropping your price if you're not getting any interest.

The process to rent is to get a rental agreement with all pertinent info signed by both you (the owner) and renter. You can find sample rental agreements by 'searching forums'. Many people do not use an escrow service but if you feel more comfortable you can again 'search forums' for escrow services.

Good luck with your rental.
