Timeshares are being given away everyday. A lot of people that bought them years ago want to get rid of them and rid themselves of the monthly maintenance fees and assessments. Peoples lives change and they no longer want the obligation to travel. The real estate market and economy has dropped to the point where most timeshares have no resale value. Before you consider buying one make sure you realize that it's a contract to pay fees every year whether you can use it or not. As resorts age they need major repairs and that could result in special assessment fees besides the annual maintenace fees. If you do decide to buy shop around and a motivated seller may give it to you for one dollar and agree to pay all closing costs as an incentive.

Yes, Most owners make this offer but then buyer has closing fee's and transfer fee's. Many of these dollar offers are from company's that the owners already gave them $3500 or more so they have their profit already and on top of this many will force you to use their closing and charge a over priced fee for this too!

If you deal with a owner that makes free or $1.00 offer and pays all transfer cost then yes its possible. We had a friend that picked up a Orlando Vistana unit 2 br float week like this by just taking the unit off the owners hands. Still can not understand some owners willing to do this or pay upfront fee's to get out from the timeshare. As I have stated many times when things get better many of these owners will be sorry they sold their units or gave them away when they start taking vacations again.

Well, actually they're not FREE as in no monetary responsibility since rising maintenance fees still have to be paid on a yearly basis.
