Selling your timeshare at Rancho Banderas
Has anyone ever been contacted by a company called Watson Affiliates, based in Texas, or the title company they use to "close" their transactions, American Assurance Title, based in Chicago, Illinois, and if so, have you entered into any contracts for the sale of your timeshare at Rancho Banderas? Appreciate any information, Thank you Susan

When a resale company cold calls you out of the blue then they are scams and will ask you for hundreds to thousands of dollars upfront .... they then put you timeshare in a database no one will ever see .... all they want is that upfront fee then you're history to them.

Thanks! I figured so. But, this company said they already have a buyer, they sent us a "guaranteed contract", and now of course they want "upfront" "reimbursable" fees. By the way, do you know anything about stopping paying maintenance fees on a Mexican timeshare? I note in the forums they talk about what happens if you quit paying United States owned timeshares, but if we quit paying ours, which is in Mexico, what are typically the ramifications (to our credit in particular)? We paid the thing off years ago, so there is no mortgage.

I too was contacted by another company wanting to buy my Rancho as well. I called Rancho, only to find out that there is many scams out there now. They have posted a letter on their main page, check it out. Also, read the Better Business Bureau on them or google their name. All these things will help you to determine who, what and No don't do it.

Scam .... any entity that demands a large upfront fee is a scam, period.

I was recently contacted by Corona Brokers in Houston Texas to sell my points at Rancho Banderas. They are offering quite a bit of money but I read that they have only been in business since March of 2012. I've sent email to attorney general for some info on them. Better Business Bureau has no info on them. I love Rancho but the increasing maintenence fees and difficulty to get reservation is terrible. Last year we went to presentation by Marival resort that has bought 49% of Rancho. OMG!!! if they had held a gun to my head I would not have felt more threathened and intimidated. Final straw was them saying if I didn't buy their $25,000 vacation package, i would never get another reservation at Rancho. Not really a company I want to be affiliated with so that part of why I would maybe consider selling my points. But having gotten taken once i don't want that to happen again. anyone else getting calls from Corona?

One more time .... when an entity cold calls you out of the blue then they are scams and will ask you for hundreds to thousands of dollars upfront .... they then put you timeshare in a database no one will ever see .... all they want is that upfront fee then you're history to them.

They always claim to have a buyer to urge you to go with them. Its a lie... No one can guarantee a buyer waiting in the wings. Who is to say that "buyer" suddenly is beguiled by a lower price elsewhere or with that same agency...? How would you possibly know he really existed?
