Years ago i looked at a timehare. It was for a specific week at year at that resort. If i wanted to somewhere else, then that opportunity was available thru
RCI. I didnt go for it and years went by.
I recently looked at another thru the Shell system and they wanted me to buy points. If i wanted to use them, even at my home resort, i had to call the 800 # and make a reservation for the time i wanted- if i could.
Points sound like an MBA's thesis on how the Developer can expand his inventory to infinity, and the onus is on the purchaser to fit their schedule into the Developer's system, or not.
How are points beneficial to the consumer? Particularly at the outrageous prices the Developer's charge for them? Also they freely admit that points you buy on the resale mkt are not as good as the one's you buy from them. Arent they debasing their own currency?
