Time Share Rental Inquiry

I recently inquired about a time share rental and was told that it was rented but that they had another unit available that same week for an additional $500. I told them that I found their rental attractive because of the price and was not interested in paying an additional $500. It has been a few weeks since my inquiry and yet the original rental ad is still listed. If it was, in fact, rented shouldn't it have been removed from the redweek listing by now? Are these owners just listing low to get a bigger response to their listing and then trying to get a higher price? Is this kind of listing allowed or are there certain restrictions placed on timeshare owners placing such ads? thanks.

If that particular unit has already been rented then yes the owner should have put a 'rented' sign next to the ad .... it's up to the owner to do that, not Redweek.

Was the rental he offered you for an extra $500 exactly like the one already rented (# bedrooms, # baths, view etc)? If so, it seems that the owner is trying to pull a fast one on you.

I have a week booked with points not at my 'home' unit. How do I go about renting it? I do not know the 'unit #', what information should I get before I advertise it for rental?

It depends what kind of points you used to book the week. Not all systems let you rent out units booked with points outside your home resort week. RCI points does not allow this. Most others do but you may want to check with your system. If you can rent it you can place an ad for the week reserved.
