Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Resort website says pets are allowed, but owner that is advertising their unit for rent on Redweek says no pets

Sep 02, 2013

Hi:

I sent an inquiry to a timeshare owner inquiring about renting their timeshare. The timeshare website says pets are allowed for a cleaning fee, but when I received a response back from the owner, she said no pets. I was just curious why the timeshare website says they accept pets and she says "no pets"?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me. We have stayed at this resort before and they allowed our pets. It is at the Westgate at the Smokey Mountains.

Thank You

Maybe the owner had a bad experience renting to someone who brought their pet and the pet caused more damage than the $100 deposit and $170 cleaning fee and the owner was charged the additional costs.

If the owner is making the rule that you can't bring a pet when using his rental than you need to find someone else to rent from or rent directly from the resort.

I own at a resort that has the minimum age for check in at 18 but I won't rent to someone under 21.
