Redweek rentals are for 6 month periods. So if an owner wants it for longer (s)he would have to pay an additional fee. Some sites you pay one fee and your listing is up forever.
Redweek has no way of knowing if a unit is still available unless the owner takes it down. So although a listing may or may not be current/available it shouldn't be too out of date.
I have found that some posters may be owners or brokers with multiple ownerships who purposely don't take down ads that aren't available and may have never been available because when you contact them they offer you other weeks or different prices claiming the original week is no longer available. This is especially annoying when despite your contacting them they do not take down or change the original ad leaving it up as if it were still available .
Since you pay the same price whether you rent the ad in one week or in 6 months and you paid for 6 months of advertising, I can see where an owner may not want to remove an ad entirely when they have other things to rent. Redweek does allow you to change the details to list a different week or price at the same resort, so for example you can change a 2013 listing to a 2014 listing or to a different week. Sometimes it just seems that some advertisers are playing the old bait and switch game by not updating listings when they can.
