renting a unit - what fees is seller charged?

Mar 13, 2014

When renting a unit, are there fees we have to pay someone? If so, is it the timeshare company or the location we own at that we pay to? Not sure how the procedure works and want to know if we have to pay out of pocket something once we find someone to rent our unit for our week. thank you :) t

Normally the rental fee listed is all that is paid unless the resort is all inclusive = if so, you pay extra to the resort for all food and drink, however this should be noted in the ad. I don't believe there are any all inclusive resorts in the USA.

tx jayjay. if i find a renter, do i need to inform the location we own at that someone else is coming in our place? at that time, do they charge fees for someone else attending instead of us? guess i'm just pessimistic that the timeshare folks are quite opportunistic and try to get a cut of the rental we receive.

It depends where you own. Wyndham for example charges owners to purchase a guest certificate if anyone other than listed owners will be occupying unit. Most do not charge but do require that you notify them. It would be best to contact your resort or the management company for your resort to find out the procedure and if a fee is involved.

Some resorts offer rental services for their owners but they often take 25-30% of rental and there is no guarantee they will be able to rent your unit.
