This morning when my wife called and contacted David Bell, he was quite agitated, stating there was no way we were getting a full refund since he worked so hard on this account, and then he hung up on my wife. Not good people to deal with. STAY AWAY. By the way, we were lucky and got our full refund.Regards, Chuck and Monti

Yeah, he really worked hard on your account. The only work he did was to convince you he could sell your week and to take your credit card number .... that's really hard work .... they (upfront fee resale companies) are all SCAMMERS.

i lost my 500.00 to david rich at omega two years ago .i gave my credit card number and never heard from any one again. i tried getting in touch but i was always told ===david is on another line or ==hes out to lunch. the bottom line is they [omega ]laughed all the way to the bank.they remind me a great deal of politicians,,promising great things, however i think we all know those promises are worthless.i wonder if david bell and david rich are one in the same???? whether or not i could ever get any of my money back, i would find it very pleasant to put all of these poisonous parasitic vultures out of business so that no one else would be a recipient of their abuse.aliceb47

Actually, I'd like to see a class action lawsuit against all upfront fee resale companies. They are out and out scams ... just another tarnish in the name of timesharing with it's already bad reputation, and we wonder how that reputation was garnered ?????? Geez!

Why not see if there is anyone interested in going in on a class action suit with you against Omega et.al.?
I paid Omega Marketing 750.00 and have not had any interest in my timeshare(for rent) they told me my timeshare with the Mayan Resort was a hot property and they had a waiting list of people for it. I was easily fooled.

You were lucky. I didn't get my money back! $890 a year ago and I never heard from them again. What a scam!

Upfront fee parasites like this one (and numerous others like them) are NOT in the habit of returning money. They are also NOT in the habit of ever actually selling any timeshares. The sole purpose and goal of their existence is to TAKE money from people who voluntarily choose to GIVE money to them for some worthless advertising, which basically consists of a grossly overpriced ad on an obscure web site --- a site no informed buyer would ever take seriously for even one moment.

dianeh166 Jay Jay, how do we go about suing these people or atleast getting them shut down so that they can stop making money off of unsuspecting people who want nothing more than someone to help them out of a unit they no longer want?? It's disgusting that these folks (Omega) will lie through their teeth to steal money from those of us who have kids and grandkids. My father has alzheimer's and we are trying to pay for his medical care. I told this story to the girl at Omega that I spoke to and she seemed like she was so concerned about everything in my life until I told her that I wouldn't pay her $998 unless she sold my unit first. I even told her that the $998 could be held in a secure escrow account until the sale was complete. She (the girl at Omega Marketing) became a completely different person: rude, belligerent, demanding and just overall a hateful woman. She acted as if I was the one who was uneducated or stupid when it was her who was trying to swindle money from someone who actually knows the meaning of hard work. This company, Omega Marketing, should be shut down and these employees should be forced to give back any money they took from people who worked hard for it then had it weaseled away from them

I don't know if my message got through, but I was just scammed by Omega Marketing this week. Being in a state of financial stress, I fell for it. I paid them $1999.00 and found out today that they are still trying to take money from my bank account. There is another pending amount of $700 on my account that I'm trying to have stopped, but I was told by the bank rep that they cannot stop it, Omega would have to call to cancel it. I'm going to the bank tomorrow to try again. I am going to 7 On Your Side and the Better Business Bureau to complain. They are preying on people who need money because of the financial hardship of the economy and their misfortunes. Satan will not fool me again!!!

Good luck with those parasites! Hopefully your account can be isolated from those thieves.

Did you sign and return anything to Scamega to authorize this?

The problem is, unless and until enough people, who've been taken in by these upfront fee parasites, band together in great numbers to expose their scams then there's really not much you can do. Upfront fee companies are not licensed real estate agents, if they were they couldn't take your upfront fee. What they call themselves are timeshare marketing services and the upfront fees you pay are for socalled marketing your timeshare that they put in a computer database that no one ever sees.

I think there needs to be federal regulation, but I don't know if that will will ever happen. That's one reason why I, and many other regular posters, come here .... we try to educate the public on scams such as upfront fee companies.

They prey on the weak and desperate. ALL THEY WANT is your upfront fee, period. I personally would love to see their scams exposed on a tv show such as 20/20 or some other investigate journalism tv show. We need someone with the POWER that reads this forum to get that ball rolling.

What I signed was one piece of paper that has my personal info, all the info about my timeshare and a list of their terms and agreements, which now that I read it is very vague and defensive. They were very careful in how they worded these terms out. The words made sure it had nothing definite or concrete that will guarantee a sale. But it does say that and I quote "Omega Marketing Solutions, LLC will not refund my advertising fee "UNLESS" ( this the the key word) my timeshare or Campground is sold by another company at the listed price and proof of such purchase is provided to Omega Marketing Solutions, LLC. No refunds unless proof of sale is provided". So that's how they can keep the money because they will make sure that the timeshare will not sale. Therefore, you cannot get a refund. It also says that Omega Marketing will advertise the property for 3 months and "assumes" that it will rent or sale within 90 days. I should have read through this craziness very carefullly, there are so many holes and red flags. I guess just like everyone else in my financial situation, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel and they took advantage of it. Unfortunately, I did sign the agreement for the $1999.00 but nothing more. They are still trying to rob money out of my accounts. THAT'S FRAUD!!

Do they answer their phone to explain why they're still trying to drain your accounts for more than the contract states?

"Most" of these scammers strike once, steal from you, and never bother you again.

I'm amazed they've not changed their alias yet...

Close down that credit card and apply for a new one. That way they can't rob any more money from that account. Also, I would dispute the charge with the credit card company.

Your situation is very important because it stresses the need to read all contracts backwards and forwards and inside and out before committing.

What they told you verbally and what is written in the contract may be two completely different things. It's what's in the written contract that counts in a court of law, not all the lies told you over the phone.

Yes I did close all my accounts. I tried calling Omega the day before yesterday when I found out about my bank account, but the answering machine picked up the whole day. I called again yesterday and a guy answered and said that Chris was out of the office and he would give him the message to call me. I never got a call. Before hand, Chris was always available when I called and he called me at least 3 times a day. You are so right what was on paper said nothing to what I was told over the phone, I wish that I had taped the conversations. Chris Brooks told me that there were at least 2 people who have put a percentage down on my resort already and was just waiting for me to make a decision. He told me that the minimum listed for sale was $18,000 and that I can go as high as $20,000. I told him that I want to get as much as I can. Hes said that once everything was done and the sale was final I would get the whole amount by a check or direct deposit if I so choose. He never gave me a time frame as to when everything would be finalized. He was so convincing. My son came up with a good point when I told him about the scam. He said, if Omega is a timeshare advertising company and I never paid them to advertise my timeshare or had any business dealings with them, how would the people know that I wanted to sell in the first place? How did the people who were interested in buying get my timeshare information if I never paid to have it advertised. Isn't that what Omega claims that they do, advertise your timeshare AFTER you pay the money. Another thought that never crossed my mind. Chris was a fast talker and a quick thinker. He just pushed the lie about the people waiting to buy and played on my financial emotion. What really burns me up is that my car has been broken down for 4 weeks, it needs a new engine. But I didn't want to use my credit cards, or borrow from my life insurance policy to do it. Then Omega Marketing called and I thought my prayers for money was answered. I ended up using my credit cards and borrowing from my life insurance policy anyway. I could have just used that money I gave those thieves to get my car repaired. Something has to be done about these people and we all need to do our part and ban together. I suggest bombarding 7 On Your Side, write your congressman, put in a report with the BBB and make this topic a suggestion for talk radio shows, go online to the network websites and see if they have a topic suggestion spot. I know that Oprah's website does. I'm definitely going to get the ball rolling. Enough is Enough!! first people got hit with these predatory mortgage loans, which resulted in thousands of people losing their homes, alot of homeless pets were left to die, and the economy took a nose dive. We as hard working, tax paying citizens of this country have to make our voice heard about these predators and get congress to pass and enforce harsh laws on these type of businesses. If what they are doing is not illegal, they will continue to prey on good people who have never heard of these company's and are unsuspecting victims rob them.

The spiel above is part of their modus operandi .... they're very good actors, but I honest to God don't see how they sleep at night .... my conscious would literally destroy me, but to them it's just a game playing with desperate and weak humans. They tell you what you want to hear ..... they're no better than criminals in prison.

ken,

I think that fraud and stealing is a good basis for a law suit. As of yesterday, they continue to try to get money out of my bank account that I did not authorize. They had already taken the money we agreed upon, now they are using my cards to try to steal more from me. Thank God I kept up with my account information to notice all those pending amounts and closed my accounts right away. If I hadn't, they would have continued to rob me blind.

Please let me know if anyone has had any success at fixing the huge scam these people are running. I have e-mailed several persons to see if anyone knows what to do. I have a current phone number for them, and the website, of course. I want action, however, and quickly. So, let me know if anyone has any suggestions besides contacting thr attorney general. Thanks, Jill

People that have been scammed by upfront fee parasites should ban together to see that the scams are exposed to the world. If you ban together and send a signed petition with thousands of names to a TV show such as 48 Hours, 20/20 or any other expose' show then surely something will be done. Also send the petition to all major newspapers in their letters to the editor section.

I've never been taken in by their scams, because I never dreamed of handing over several hundred dollars to a company that hasn't done anything by earning that money.

It will take a concerted effort on eveyone's part that's been scammed, but it CAN BE DONE. There's power in numbers.

That is quite a good idea, and I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. My grandma has dealth with this problem twice, with two different companies. Omega being the last, and TOMO being the first. So, I am hoping to help her out with this. I will try your suggestion... If anyone else is interested, e-mail me at : depeched8004@aol.com, and I will respond and we can begin.

Another good idea is to set up a webpage that people can sign.

Jill, I contacted 7 On Your Side also, just go to their website and put in your complaint. I also contacted BBB, Consumer Protectiion, and my bank also has a fraud case against them. Something must have worked because after a week of not being able to contact him, Chris Brooks contacted me and said that they are desparately trying to sell my timeshare and that he was on vacation when I was trying to contact him. I didn't believe him of course. He asked me to stop slandering the company's name and they are a legitimate business in good standing. He also asked me to call everyone that I had contacted and tell them that he contacted me. I didn't of course. I told him that he scammed me and alot of other people, but I know better now. I told him to prove me wrong, sell my timeshare and give me my check! He hung up on me. I haven't heard from him since. Don't stop trying to get them. The darkness must be exposed to the light and they have to pay for what they are doing to people. Ever since they took that extra money out of my account I have not been able to get back on my feet with my bills. He tried to say that I agreed on the Option to Buy, which cost an extra $999 and that's why they took the money. I was furious because I never agreed to that, but he tried to twist my words to make me unsure of our conversation. He must think I'm a bigger idiot than I was for falling for his scam. I want all of the companies that prey on people's misfortune and desperation to pay. They are stealing and making you look like the bad guy. So do what ever you have to to make your point and get their name out there so that this can be stopped. This should not be tolerated or swept under the rug. I also talked to my aunt who works for a law firm. I will not be scammed like this again. This company and others like them make it hard for upstanding timeshares realtors to get people to trust them. I don't know why they won't put these predators out of business to protect theirs. I pray that we prosper from this ordeal, because evil does not go unpunished!
