Has anyone tried to rent a Bluegreen Resort using points or Bonus Points? I am unsure how to go about doing this. We have deeds for Gatilinburg and Marathon in the Keys of Florida.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by "rent" in this case. Of course you must know that you can use your Bluegreen points to get a reservation at another Bluegreen resort at which you do not have your contract. This is considered an "internal exchange". Sometimes we owners speak of "renting" spare points to one another. In that case, we are actually making a reservation at someone else's request and they rent it from us. We are not transferring the points to them. Or are you asking about actually Renting directly from Bluegreen. In that case, you have to use money. The inventory being rented out in that instance is unsold, foreclosed, or perhaps space intended to bring in non-owners who might become owners. Any of those definitions fit your intention?? MD

No, it was an RCI fixed week, which I purchased long before there was a Fairfield or Wyndham.

I have successfully rented my timeshare in Hawaii. Not so lucky with Mexico timeshare. It may depend on the location.

I just joined RedWeek.com. I plan to rent out my week at Ka Olina Resort. What is the first thing I should do. Is it to find out what are the available weeks in Ka Olina for my one week timeshare? Then I have to reserve the week or weeks before I do rental posting? Thanks for your assistance. Jarin

If your week is a fixed week or a floating week you need to know. Call your resort and see how they do it, most resorts are familar with red week.com. I own at PB Sunset Beach and I also had alot of questions on this. Check with your resort, but you should be able to call your resort and check if the renters request is availiable and then you let the renter know. You get a confirmation from the resort to send the renter with there name on it, along with the renters agreement. The agreement is on this site. Get them to send a cashier checque (registered) to your name. or use the escow system if you like. You should be able to have the authority to cancel the reservation if the checque is a issue. It should not be since it is guarentee funds. It can get tricky depends on the requesst and the date of reservation. I know my resort needs 15 days cancelation fee, or I pay $100. Depends on how busy the resort is, you may want to book your week in advance and then you have it for sure and then can advertuse iit on redweek knowing it is available. This can limit your contacts since you could have someone who wants a week differant than what you are advertising. By putting a time frame like Jan to Mar 2012, and still book a week somewhere in that but leave the opportunity to change it when you get a request. Your resort may or may not have the week, when you get a request,.but it gives you more opportunities to request. Another thing take a look at the rentals listed under your resort. Make a note of which weeks seem to be most popular, try to not be the lowest, but in the average. Like alot of the rentals on my resort for a Junior go anywhere from %700 to $900. I put $750, I have four weeks, so I have a longer frame of time on my ad. If you have any questions send me a note. It took alot of work for me to find out all the ins and outs of this. Another thing, not sure if the resort is weeks or points. My resort is points, but the points convert into weeks, Like a 100 points is equal to a week of rental. Or if I was to use 200 points, I could rent a 1 bedroom unit which would be a highter rent, It just depends on how you want to do it.

Marty, what is the protocol for the exchange of money and confirmation of the rental being in the right name? Is it a matter of trust! Did you require any security service?

your not an idoit, just don't pay upfront fee. search internet to have someone sell it, google it or put it on redweek for free. there is no true resale value unless it is a top name comapny. you can always donate it. hope it helps. in the business

Arnold don't ever think of yourself as an idiot for asking before you give someone money to sell or rent your timeshare. If more people would ask first the scam artists would be out of business. There are many different ways to rent or sell your properties. Use one or more sites like Redweek to advertise. You can always use a service for those purposes but never pay an upfront fee. If someone claims they can sell your property for a large sum it's a scam. Unless it's one of a few select timeshares it has very little or no value. Keep asking questions. Hopefully someone will be able to give you sound advice to help you.

In 2008 I rented an Oceanfront lock-off for $1,200 and last year, 2011, I rented my Oceanfront lock-off for $1,500 for the week.

Both were very pleasant experiences and I dealt directly with the owner and as an owner myself, my interested renter dealt directly with me through redweek.com. :)
