Now children...Let's play nice. LOL. Seriously, posters who asked questions need to provide all the details in a clear and concise manner. For example, I have seen posts where someone just bought a TS at Resort X and wants to know trade value. However the poster failed to give season, unit size, etc. Therefore we who reply need to either prompt for more info or make assumptions and answer the question in a "general" manner.

It's okay to ask for more information or for clarification if the question asked is not defined perfectly, but I don't condone berating the questioner for the way they presented their question. We were all newbies once and not everybody is as internet savvy as others and some people are also typing challenged.

I try to give all questioners the benefit of the doubt and if I have a question for them about something that's unclear, I try to ask it in a nice way.

Thanks to all. Enjoyed this post.

I thought I rented a unit and tried to contact RCI to verify ownership AFTER the alleged owner failed to repond to numberous contacts. RCI would not verify ownership even with a lease.

I doubt if I will ever rent a unit again. Nightmare.

I can relate to the renter. Scary.

RCI will not verify ownership. You have to call the resort to verify if the person renting you their timeshare is the owner, or the owner can send you some form of verification of ownership by fax or email. The fact that this person didn't return your calls or emails raises a bright red flag. You did your due diligence, but you contacted the wrong entity (RCI).

Please don't give up on renting timeshares. Most people are honest and trustworthy and you can get some very good deals renting from owners on Redweek but next time contact the resort, not RCI.
