I appreciate your help. When I talked to them initially, I told them that they couldn't charge the card until a later date. After your note, and a variety of other research, I reported the card as stolen.... I also called them and (as you said) they didn't answer the phone. The message I left was (paraphrased) that they had at best misrepresented themselves, and at worst committed fraud. Any attempt to pursue me or my money would result in legal proceedings.
I could continue, but you get the gist, and again, I want to thank you for your response and help.

There may be some legitimate timeshare dealers out there, but for the most part, the ones I have dealt with are scams. Over the years, I have spent several thousand dollars trying to sell (or give away) my timeshares. What most buyers don't understand when buying a timeshare(including myself) is that the ownership goes into infinity-to your heirs or in the event of your death, if there are not heirs, the timeshare company will come after your estate for the maintenance fees, which by the way, continue to escalate. It's sad that this fact is not disclosed at the time a person buys a timeshare. Of course, if this had to be disclosed, there would not be many timeshares sold!

Resales Buy Owner called my home yesterday and asked to speak to my Mother (she passed away six years ago) and of course I told them I was her. I listened to their BS and was told that they are licensed Real Estate Brokers. They gave me the name of the Broker as well as the person I was speaking to. After being told once again that my Vistana was worth $24,000 I gave them my name and told them I sell timeshare on the resale market and basically that I would be reporting their Broker and the person I was speaking to to the DBPR. I then explained that there was information on the TV about upfront fees and that you had to have a real estate license etc. The gentleman said a few not nice words and hung up on me.

Not only will it put a negative ding on your credit report, the resort can come after you making you pay all court costs with interest added. You signed a contract to buy a timeshare ..... that contract is no less important than any contract you sign to buy anything (ie: home, car, boat etc).

They outright lied to you. Upfront fee parasites cannot hold a real estate license, the main reason being that if they were licensed they COULD NOT not charge any upfront fee whatsoever.
They also outright lied to you about what your Vistana week is worth on the resake market @ $24,000. Now ask yourself this, why would anybody buy on the resale market a week that is developer priced? It all boils down to common sense, no matter how much BS they tell you to get that upfront fee.
I don't know what week you own, but in reality it's worth, in today's down economy/market, less 75% +- of what you paid if you bought from the developer IF it can be sold at all.

unfortunately, I posted my timeshare for rental with Resales Buy Owner in January of 2009; haven't heard from them yet. When I call, they blame the economy but state they're still working on it. I only spent $399, but that was $399 that could have gone elsewhere. Lesson learned.

DON'T USE THEM THEY ARE A SCAM! Call the company that you bought from and they are your best option for resale! Take it from me I have used: Sell My Time Share Now.com, Resales Buy Owner.com, Resort Equity Marketing, Vaction Property Services, they all took my money and did nothing!!!!!

I am looking at these posts and they are only a week old, I have been trying to call the # given to my by Resales Buy Owners for a year. A Ms. Cheryl Clay is the person I dealt with and this is the # she gave me 1-386-761-5867, the office # 1-800-985-1223. I am forwarding all of this S*!*! to the Florida Attorney General anyone else out there that wants to go after these crooks and get your $$$$ back, even if we all go into a class action law suit it will at least prevent these Vampires from sucking the life blood out of others!!!!!

I posted my property with this company and got nothing in return! not even a phone call! They are a Scam along with RESALES BUY OWNERS< RESORT EQUITY MARKETING<VACATION PROPERTY SERVICES!! No matter what any of these companies tell you don't send them any $$$, and if you deal with a person by the name of Cheryl Clay from RESALES BUY OWNERS definately don't send her company or who ever she is currently working for any $$$. Along with that name here is another one to be on the look out for: Henry Brainsfield, Bill Richards all of these persons are VERY VERY good sales persons but what they are selling is themselves and making you believe that they will produce for you! Feel free to contact me via this site if you have any doubts about any of these companies! If they charge a fee upfront call the state of Florida and you will find out that they are all SCAMS!

Stopping payment of MFs may eventually hurt your credit if the debt is turned over to a collection agency.Call the company that you bought from, and give them a quit claim deed, this will not affect your credit and you get out of the payments, but you loose all your $$ paid in.

The ONLY way this would successfully happen is if the resort WILL take the week back (and the vast majority will not as maintennace fees are their bread and butter) and you're still stuck with it (maintenace fees, special assessments and any other fees involved). If you don't pay they will turn you over to collections, foreclose on you and ruin your credit score.

Strange, I'm talking to Cheryl Clay too. It would be wonderful to get your money back but I don't know, or rather, haven't seen communication, on anyone who have. It's sure worth trying. If nothing else, it would be a positive move to bring wrong-doings to the surface so hopefully others won't get scammed out of their monies.

I have listed my Timeshare with Resales Buy Owner 11 months ago, and was foolish enough to listen to their promises, so-called expertise in this industry and how they were different from any other T.S. resale company! After falling for their slick sales pitch and numerous promises, I gave them over $600.00 that they took out of my account that night with my debit card. The sales rep even gave me his cell phone and told me to call him anytime and he would be more then happy to answer my questions. Well this latest for only 1 week. Not only have I been calling the main office and his cell phone since Jan.2009, and have left more then the normal amount of messages. NEVER ONCE have I received a call back in 9 months. I have even had people call and inquire as well as placed an offer for my Timeshare in Hilton Head, S.C. and they never even received a return call. They have a F rating as a score with The BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU for numerous reasons. BEWARE IF YOU EVER EVEN THINK OF DEALING WITH RESALES BUY OWNER!!!!
