Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares
You could scoop up all kinds of weeks for $1 on Ebay and TUG and Redweek, but they all still have stiff main fees that keep climbing. Many are seeing jumps in the range of 8-12% per year!! Horrid. Beware.
I would not be shocked to see the timeshare industry takes a collapse. Unlike the mortgage companies/banks, I doubt a government bailout will come for timeshares. If thousands of people quit paying their fees and loans on timeshares, and few people are buying from the developers .... they are bound to collapse at some point (at least a few of them). What that might mean for owners, I don't know.
