terryb82 wrote:Has anyone here used Resorts INT'l Marketing to sell their timeshare? i listd my timeshare with them back in July and that was the last time i heard from them. i called 4 or 5 times to talk to the broker that listed my timeshare and every time they tell either he is busy and he would call me back, out sick, on vacation etc.. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Terry, I haven't tried to sell a timeshare but I have listed my timeshare in Neuvo Vallarta Mexico with 2 rental companies, paid their fees and have never heard from them since. One is in Florida and the other in California. I don't place much faith in the characters involved in timeshare sales or rentals. Jon Black

I wish I would have known about paying upfront-I felt like I was in a bind & that was the only way to handle it. I signed up with Vacation Register, never ever heard anything back from them. I did not trust Century 21, I see for good reason. I constantly hear from organizations telling me that my timeshare can sell for 15,000.00 & that I should list with them, provided I give them money. I have a 1 bedroom, week 42 in Daytona Beach and have no idea how to go about selling it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

AVOID JRA
JRA services handled my first resale purchase. They didn't get the grant deed recorded correctly and after two years the tax bill is still in the previous owners name. I contacted Janet Amarrati to get this fixed. She has never called me back. I have no way to get ahold of the previous owner so I'm stuck. I wouldn't use JRA nor could I recommend them!!

I sell my timeshares via Redweek, www.bidshares.com (free) and www.myresortnetwork.com (minimal fee). Ebay is also very popular. I feel the very best seller is the owner of the week (you). I always keep dropping my price until I get some interest. It depends on what season you own, the popularity of the week and the popularity of resort as to what you'll get for your week.

Whatever you do, do not believe anyone that tells you that you'll get anywhere near 15K for your week 42 in Daytona. For one thing week 42 is off season on Florida beaches. We sold a May week (2 bedroom, oceanfront unit, 1200 sq. ft. wrap-around windows, Gold Crown (RCI), 5 Star (II) with a 100 ft. wrap around balcony) for $3000 at Daytona Beach Shores. This was at one of the nicest timeshares on Daytona Beach.

Hi Bill,
We recommend First American Title -- we have heard very few complaints. You can find more info at:

Kylie
RedWeek.com
[I would only use the Timeshare Resale Program through Redwish. We purchased out timeshare through a Resort and Timeshare Resale Escrow Service did ALl the paperwork legally completed.
RedWeek.com now offers a secure and convenient third-party handling service to members participating in a timeshare resale transaction. Using First American Title Insurance Co., the leading timeshare escrow company, RedWeek.com members can transact timeshare resale agreements with other members, without security concerns that may be associated with private transactions.
Good luck - we are trying to sell ours too, and kinow first-hand they are reputable and honest company.

While I do believe that 15,000. is a high amount that the company was saying it could sell at, they just wanted my money, week 42 is the 2nd busiest week in Daytona (Bike Week being the 1st). Hotels & Motels double & sometimes triple the amount just because its Biketoberfest. My resort is sold out for that week. This is why I don't know where to come up with a starting amount. I certainly hope that I am not forced to sell it for 3,000.00.

Owning a week during Biketoberfest has it's disadvantages. We were at Daytona Beach during their Spring BikeFest one year (we didn't realize it before going). The noise from the ultra loud roaring motocycles kept us up all night while the bikers constanty rode up and down the beach highway (when do these people sleep?). After that we always researched to see when any sort of bike fest was anywhere near Daytona Beach or anywhere else we were planning on going to.
In my opinion, you would have more luck renting your Daytona week 42 than selling it, especially for anywhere near 15K (developer price). There's a week 42 listed here in Daytona for the selling price of $3000. So far, no takers. There may be others, but I researched only a few timeshares in Daytona, since there seems to be many floating weeks in that area.

TO terryb82 Yes, INT'l Marketing called us and we paid them via CC for $800 fee upfront. I immediately called our Timeshare Realtor in Cape Cod and she said, oh no, remember - NEVER PAY UP FRONT! So I called our CC Company, placed a dispute right away and when their contract arrived, sent it back registered, receipt requested so they had to sign for it and wrote Cancel across it with a cover letter telling them the contract was null and void and further legal action would be paid if they did not refund our money. They rescinded and we never heard from them again! Same thing, we tried to call for information over a weekend - they had contacted us on a Friday making it a little more than 3 days - but in legal terms a contract has to be 3 Workind Days! Wow, was that a scare! Now we have been contacted by Timeshare Relief, Inc. and I am researching them on-line. I have called every one of their testimonials and they have never heard of this company! So, we're being cautious on this one too.

www.timesharetransfer.com is a closing company used by many people buying and selling timeshares. They are based in Vero Beach. They have a very good reputation for their quality, integrity and honesty. Their fees are listed on their webpage.
If you don't care for an escrow service (holding monies until the transaction is compete) then www.timetraveltraders.com charges only $75 for a simple closing, although they are not based in Florida.
Also, redweek offers a closing service called American Title. You can do some research in their help section to see what their fees are.
BTW, you don't have to use a closing company in the state where the week is being bought and/or sold.
