The Manhattan Club

Manhattan Club Lawsuit

May 18, 2021

I signed my papers in November 2020. A copy of the completed deal (papers) came yesterday via email. Whew! The first time around (I inherited 2 timeshares) I never received any papers but was told by Lynne O’Donnell that I could find evidence of the completed transaction on ACRIS which I did.

When u inherited them it didn’t cost u 20-40k as it did for many of us. There is no financial burden that u carried over the years. When someone inherits an assets they are not obligated to take possession. That was your choice! Please don’t gloat about getting your $100 because many owners are down right upset of losing thousands of dollars and limited use of their timeshare!

Gary I am not gloating!! Not by a long shot and paying several thousand a year in maintenance fees is a financial burden. Especially when I can’t use TMC due to the pandemic. I consulted 3 lawyers and was told, erroneously or not that I either had to inherit everything or nothing in Virginia. I fought hard with everyone else that participated in the AG’s investigation since 2014. Through the years, on this site, there have been others, including you, who criticize others for their choices. My point has always been, that everyone has a choice on how they want to move through this incredibly unfortunate situation and they should be allowed that choice without being guilt tripped by others. I feel for everyone. I wish them the very best outcome.

Amen!!!!! Was glad to unload one of our weeks — and said earlier glad to cut our losses. Still am hanging on to one week, which we plan to use and pay our enormous fees. Overtime we’ll see what happens. No one including you (or me) is gloating.

I understand your reasoning. I’m just annoyed that the District Attorneys Office doesn’t see the fraud that perpetrated from the Manhattan Club sales practice that we were subjected too. My end game if we don’t see any resolution from the current law suit is to leave my time share to MTC in my will & testimony.

Unfortunately life is not fair and eichner has lots of money and attorneys in his court. In the eyes of the NYAG, they “punished” him. It was an investigation, not a lawsuit and thats over. Also, there is no lawsuit. This site was erroneously named and they couldn’t change it, we were told. Currently, a lawyer named Zimmerman has taken on clients, owners of TMC, and is working on their behalf for a fee, though we've been told its not technically a lawsuit. You could try that avenue. A real estate lawyer on this site a few years ago said to will it the State of NY. I want to point out that I paid the average of $3000 for 8 years. That would have been the cost of one timeshare.

DKS-What parameters did you use to search on ACRIS to find that the transaction has been completed? I have searched often by party name and it looks like the deed is still in our name which irks me. Perhaps I'm not submitting the correct info. We signed the papers and received the $100 check almost 2 years ago.

Its been a while. You go onto the ACRIS site. I remember I had to put in info other than my name. Numbers like map and lot or some such info. Call Lynne O’Donnell or one of the people in financial services. They can easily tell you. Good Luck!

Re:acris. Think I had to put llot and block # in search, they should be on your original deed.

We tried to gift our timeshare back & they would not take it. So we didn't pay the yearly $3000.00 fee last fall. Then MC contacted us in December and we deeded it back to them. They sent a package of papers to sign & we did. So we're done.

I'm curious as how you approached not paying your maintainance fees. Did you notify TMC in writing or merely just didn't pay your fees when due? I'm been on the giveback list for 3+ yrs and get no where with those supposedly handling this for the TMC. They are exceptionally good at brushing your concerns under the rug and stating that the list is long and they will contact you when your name comes up, yet can't tell you how many are on list and where you stand in that group. I'm personally very tired of their smoking mirrors that do nothing for those who have been nothing but loyal to this entity for decades. Enough is enough. Appreciate any guidance from those who have opted out.

If you really want to give it back, stop paying your maintenance fees (no warning needed) and you will be moved to near of the front of the list. As long as you continue to pay the M.F. the Manhattan Club has no real desire to take your week back. They like people that continue to pay and want to continue that relationship with you, as you keep paying. I've done that with 3 different weeks that I own there and it worked perfectly. With the buy-back (give-back) contract it forgives all unpaid maintenance fees. There is no reason to continue to pay if you really want out.

I stopped paying. Didn’t respond to emails, invoices, or phone calls. Within the year the contacted me to give it back. I’ve received the papers but not the measly $100 check.

Thanks for the info/share. I'm so ready to move on as well.

You’re not really complaining about the $100 check. We ended up losing thousands on these units. Just sign away your timeshare and be done with it. I’m in for the long fight

yes, irene:

a template of your letter will serve for owners to pick and choose what pertains to them (in whole or parts) and mail it to the new NYSAG, honorable leticia james.

this will help to create a cohesive united front for her to review and possibly make necessary changes to owners' benefit.

it can't hurt to try.

Hello Chris. I have not seen any current posts from you since last year. Are you still an owner?

Gary…….I was sharing info which was requested by others, not complaining about the measly $100. I only try to help and occasionally check out the site to see what if anything good has happened. I’d appreciate if you would stop your nasty remarks to my posts which I ‘m sure originate from your anger about your situation and towards others who have chosen to give back their timeshares.

I own a timeshare in the man club and have followed this link...currently , it's difficult to understand why owners are willing to pay maintenance. On top of everything which has been spoken on this site, the man club has given us zero credit going forward for our inability ( for obvious reasons) to use our days during the pandemic..

Has anyone gotten the letter to either pay your maintenance fees, or return the timeshare for the magnificent sum of 100$?This is the first year we have withheld our fees. Timeshare has no mortgage attached. Apparently we have 30 days to decide.
