Manhattan Club Lawsuit
cg160 wrote:Anyone receive a call from TMC for accrued maintenance fees?
I have been receiving phone calls and “final” maintenance fee statements since 2020. Just this week I received another financial statement along with two voicemails which of course I never acknowledge. I refuse to sign over my timeshare for $100 after the unethical, criminal conduct of this organization.

Irene,
Are you aware of what the Holiday Inn company found about TMC that led it not to pursue buying TMC?

I just told them today that I’m not paying next years maintenance fee & that it’s become unaffordable. Their response was “it’s going to collection”. I told them that a few people I know have done the same and Manhattan Club would call to purchase back the timeshare for $100. They said they no longer will do that. Is anyone having the same issue or have they called back & eventually take control @ ownership of the timeshare?

Gary, Manhattan Club is not your friend. You aren't doing yourself any favors by telling them what you plan on doing. They will tell you that they don't do that anymore and threaten to go to collections, or anything else, legal or not in an effort to get you to continue paying maintenance fees. I can tell you that I had 3 suites there and it worked for me each time. It also worked for many others. Once, I stopped paying the M/F, it was with-in 12-18 months that they made me the offer. But, either way or not, if they did take you to collections, there are other members that had it taken off their credit reports because of the fraud that M/C admitted to. The choice is yours, end it or continue to pay those thieves the unjust M/F.

Thanks Cliff! It's really disturbing that we had been promised so many things but not one came true. Paying $42k and seeing the maintenance rise over 400% has been very discouraging. Don't get me wrong we had incredible times and memories in Manhattan however I always thought that it would turn out better at the end.
Can I ask why you bought 3 of them?

Gary, I purchased my first one thru the Manhattan Club in 1996 and maintenance fees were only $1300. and some change. I purchased the next two after- market on the cheap and they gave me credit on my first purchase to upgrade to the Penthouse. As M/F started to skyrocket, I decided to rid myself of two of them and keep the Penthouse suite. But, after that got up to $4K per year, I did the buyback on that one also. Who would have known that we would have been lied to and had fraud committed against us.
